FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do you mean by Payment Services & E-money? Adempi works with firms operating within the UK Payment Services Regulations and Electronic Money Regulations - including Authorised Payment Institutions (APIs), Small Payment Institutions (SPIs), and E-money Institutions (EMIs). We also work with firms who are PIS/AIS providers only. In short: if you're moving money, issuing e-money, or building payments infrastructure, we can assist with any compliance-related questions.

Do you help with FCA authorisations for payment firms?​ Yes. We get firms “application-ready”: we prepare, review and submit applications, and we help you respond to FCA queries. We also support variations of permission and changes in control.

Is this only for firms that are not yet authorised?​ No — we hope that your FCA authorisation is the start of a much longer-term relationship. Most of Adempi's work is actually with authorised firms who need ongoing support. We stay on hand to help answer tricky questions — whether that's safeguarding, financial crime, Consumer Duty, data, risk or operational resilience — and to provide extra resource if you need help with compliance tasks such as policies, monitoring, reporting or training.

Do you offer training specific to payment institutions and EMIs?​ We do. Available online or in person, our compliance training is interactive and practical. We offer regulatory training designed specifically for the payments and e-money sector — and we can tailor it as much as you need for your API or EMI. In terms of audience, we deliver workshops for all staff, specific teams and roles (e.g. compliance, financial crime, finance or marketing teams), as well as for boards and executive teams. Adempi has won awards for our compliance training, and we also offer eLearning you can use to keep staff topped up between sessions or to deploy content quickly on new topics.

Can you benchmark whether we’re “on track” before we go to the FCA?​ Yes. Our Mini Compliance Health Check gives you a fast, independent view of how close you are to FCA expectations — and where to fix things before you apply for authorisation, expand your permissions or make other business changes.​

Can you help us prepare for FCA interviews or supervisory engagement?​ Yes. We run mock interviews and readiness sessions so your leadership team can engage with the FCA confidently and credibly — whether for authorisation, thematic review or supervision.

Do you support safeguarding and wind-down planning for payment firms?​ Yes. We help firms build safeguarding controls, prepare for annual audits and attestations, and design FCA-aligned wind-down plans that stand up under scrutiny.
